Step 1:

In the first step of our guide to drawing a bear, we will start by drawing a guide shape in pencil. This shape looks like an oval with a bulge at the bottom.

We’ll be using a pencil for this step, as we’ll be adding elements to this shape in the next step.

Step 2:

For this next step, you can add ears to the top of the head shape, as shown in the picture.

Once you are happy with how it looks, you can run over the pen with a pen and erase the pen guides to end up with an image that looks like the picture.

Step 3:

Now that you have finished drawing your bear’s head, you can draw some facial details.

For this step, we’ll use circular shapes and curved lines to draw the details of your bear’s eyes, nose, mouth, and ears.

You can also change the facial details if you want to give your bear different facial expressions!

There are many fun ways to change it, so feel free to tweak a few details.

Step 4:

The drawing of your bear’s head is complete so we can start with the bear’s body in the next step.

To start, you can draw two curved lines as they appear in the image to form the sides of the body.

The reference image will guide you on how to curve these lines. They should extend closer to the top as they will form your bear’s shoulder once we add arms.

Step 5:

Now that we’ve outlined the body for your bear drawing, you can draw the first arm.

To draw this, you can add a nice long line that curls around as it appears in the picture.

Once you’ve drawn the shape of the arm, remember to add some sharp claws!

Step 6:

Once you’ve drawn the other arm of your bear design, all you need to do is draw the arm on the right side as a mirror image of the arm you drew in step 5.

This is another step where you can change arm positions; for example, you could have it for your bear to wave at if you want!

Step 7:

Your drawing is almost complete at this point, and the last thing you need is to draw paws for your bear drawing.

We will use a combination of curved and straight lines to add legs.

I recommend starting on the left side, working down from the body, curving towards the foot, and then finishing that leg before drawing the other in a mirror image.

With that done, you’ve learned how to draw a bear! Your drawing needs one more thing; we’ll cover that in the final step.

Step 8:

Now that you’ve finished drawing your bear, there’s one more fun step! Your bear drawing needs colour now; this is where you can unleash your creativity.

We show you how to colour your drawing so you can use it as inspiration for your favourite  colours!

Have fun with how you colour your drawing because there are no wrong answers!

You can also experiment with different art mediums for amazing colour looks! Using mediums like paint, watercolour, coloured pens, and pencils can be a great way to add different intensities of colour to your image.

We can’t wait to see how you finish your bear drawing.
