How Google celebrates Pacman 30th Anniversary – What are the Surprises!!

Introduction

Today is the 30th anniversary of the release of Pac-Man, which is still going strong today and has done for more than 3 decades. Toru Iwatani developed the game, which was first released in 1980 as a coin-operated arcade machine that one or two players could play. Over time, people have ported the game to multiple platforms, including the Atari 2600, Commodore 64, PC Engine CD-ROM2 TurboGrafx CD system, Game Boy Advance SP/GBA Micro consoles, and mobile phones. Nowadays, over 200 licensed products featuring Pacman characters, such as toys, plush dolls, and keychains, exist, and even bakers have made cakes with Pacman-inspired icing designs.

Pac-Man

In 1980 Namco Developed A Video Game Known as “Pac-Man”. It was the first maze game to use ghosts as enemies.

In the game play pac-man the player controls a yellow animated character named Pac-Man.

The objective for the player controlling Pac-Man is to eat all the pac-dots on the screen while avoiding the ghosts that are trying to catch them. The objective of each level in Pac-Man is to collect all 120 pellets, also known as “pac-dots.” The player must collect all the pellets before the time runs out or they die. When the player collects enough points, they will reveal more pellets to eat. However, if the player fails to complete their task within 100 seconds or if an enemy catches them, they will lose a life. After losing three lives, an intermission sequence plays that shows the number of dots left at each stage/level and provides tips on how to continue playing without losing any more lives.

The 30th anniversary celebration started in 1980 when Pacman’s creator Iwatani released it on a Sinclair ZX81 computer with an 8k ROM cartridge that could hold up to 2k bytes (enough space for about 200 lines). The first version was called Pakumon no Tamashii (Pacman’s Spirit), but later versions were called simply “Pac-Man.”
